Manitoba Finals Rodeo Ground Rules 2011
Contestants
1. Contestants in the top ten standings who have competed at the required number of rodeos after Ste Rose and Wapella Rodeo results are finalized and published, are considered to be eligible to enter the Finals, along with the winner of the Eastern Tour or the next eligible Eastern Tour contestant and the winner of the Southern Tour or the next eligible contestant. If Wapella Rodeo official results are not received by the time of entries, Finals entries will be done on unofficial results, and any changes that may occur after entries are done will be dealt with on an individual basis. To confirm your attendance or non-attendance, all contestants must contact the MRCA office on Tuesday, October 11th between 2:30pm and 6:00pm Central time by telephone (Roughstock & BR) and Oct 12th between 9:30am & 2:30pm Central time for timed event contestants or online entry October 11th & 12th . There will be no draw outs after Thursday October 13th, and no refunds on entry fees will be issued. Fees may be paid by Visa/Mastercard on entry day or by Cheque / Cash at registration. If you do not enter on the 14th the office will treat you as a non competitor, and the next eligible contestant in the standings will be contacted to compete in your place. Contestants who turn out of any performance at the Manitoba Finals Rodeo will NOT be eligible for Finals awards.
2. Performance times are Thursday, Oct 20th , Friday, October 21st and Saturday, October 22nd at 7:00 pm.
3. Finals Rodeo office will open for entries on Thursday, October 20th t at 1:00 pm and will close at 4:00pm sharp. The office will be located in the old Barn Bar. Maps will be located on site. Anyone paying fees after 4:00 will not be allowed to compete in the first round of the Manitoba Finals Rodeo. Anyone failing to pay for merchandise ordered will be fined $50 plus the cost of the merchandise.
4. All contestants are to assemble at the bottom of the ramp in the arena for dress rehearsal at 4:45 pm on Thursday, October 21st Finals pictures will
be done on Thursday, October 21st at 4:15pm. If you are not present for pictures a $100.00 fine will be incurred.
5. Contestants will be issued a back number which must be worn on their back for all three performances. Back numbers are issued based on your season end ranking
6. Finals Entry Fees: Major Events $100.00, Junior Events $60.00, Rough Stock events $120.00.
7. The MRCA reserves the right to fine anyone for unruly conduct during the Finals.
8. The Main Arena will be open to rodeo contestants from 2:30 – 4:00 pm on Thursday, October 21st.
9. The arena will not be open again to contestants prior to the first performance, and anyone found to be riding in the arena after this time will be fined.
10. The arena director in conjunction with both judges will be responsible for handing out fines to rodeo contestants, for conduct that hinders the progress of the performance, as well as any conduct unbecoming to the integrity of the rodeo. These fines will be levied and will range from $50-$100 and must be paid before the contestant will be allowed to compete in the next performance. A complete list of expectations will be available at check in.
Dress Code
1. Everyone working and/or participating in the arena during the Finals performance must be dressed in suitable western attire.
Passes
1. Only Finals contestants and personnel will be provided with passes.
2. A contestant losing his/her pass will not be re-issued an additional pass. The contestant will be required to purchase a ticket.
3. Companion passes may be purchased for $25.00.
4. Contestants will receive one complementary Rodeo/floor ticket to the Friday Night Party in the Dirt featuring Beverley Mahood & Chad Brownlee. Tickets for the Friday Night Party in the Dirt will be available for sale at check in.
Arena
1. Any complaints must go to the Arena Director. His word is Final.
2. No unauthorized personal will be allowed in front of the chute area, or in front of the timed event area during the performance. This is to be enforced by the Arena Director.
3. The Judges have the authority to disqualify any contestant from:
a) competing in a performance, if in his opinion the contestant is holding up the performance for unjust reasons.
b) For breaking any Finals Ground Rules.
4. Timed event contestants will compete in order of Southern Tour Qualifier, Eastern Tour Qualifier, followed by 10th qualified position to 1st qualified position.

5. Positions for Ladies Barrel Racing and Junior Girls Barrel Racing will be drawn by the Finals office on Thursday, October 21st. The orders will role three (3) positions for Friday and three (3) more for Saturday. Raking will be done after the fourth (4th) and eighth (8th) in the Ladies. It will be done at the start of the Junior Girls and after the fourth (4th) barrel racer.
6. In the timed events, only two (2) contestants will be allowed in the arena at one time.
7. No one will be allowed to stand beyond the score line in all timed events or the contestant will be flagged out.
8. Once the competitor has finished an event, the competitor will be required to leave the arena and warm up area to avoid congestion in the arena.
9. Only Finals contestants will be allowed in the arena during the timed events.
10. All timed event cattle will be drawn two hours before each performance.
11. Rough stock & timed event stock will be drawn daily at 4:00 pm. All draws will be posted as soon as possible.
12. Main arena agenda and warm up times for the arena will be posted in the rodeo office and strictly adhered to.
13. The ramp and the area at the bottom of the ramp (entrance to the main arena) must be kept clear at all times to prevent possible accidents.
Stabling
1. Horses can arrive on the grounds any time Thursday. Timed event contestants must state when they will be arriving and leaving with horses for stalling purposes.
2. Stabling Responsibilities: Tying horses to trailers is NOT permitted for rodeo contestants. All manure will be placed in designated areas. STABLE MAINTENANCE IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTESTANT AND THE OWNERS OF THE HORSES.
3. Applicable fees for stabling will be charged to contestants.
Winners/Champions
1. The winners of each event in each go-around must be present immediately after his/her event for a Victory Lap. The winner will be ushered in by a flag bearer. This contestant must then immediately make their way up to the top of the concourse to have a picture taken with the Buddy up winner for the event.
2. Horses for the Victory Ride will be provided.
3. All ties will be broken with a ride-off or rope-off.
4. Awards for the Finals will be presented in the Canad Inns Roadhouse Sunday at 10:00am. Contestants must be in attendance to receive awards, or award will roll down to next qualified contestant.
5. All Contestants winning Year End awards must be present to receive awards.
6. Added money for finals will be as follows: $850.00 per performance in Major events for a total of $2550.00, $183.33 per performance in junior events for a total of $550.00. Total finals added money is $21,500.00
7. If there is 8 or less contestants in an event (Major or Junior) the payout will be split 3 ways (45/35/20 split) and go round and average points will be awarded 60/40/20. Events with more than 8 contestants the payout will be split 4 ways (40/30/20/10 split) and go round and average points will awarded at 80/60/40/20.
8. Ground money will be paid out at the finals. Ground monies will be split equally and paid on the qualifying contestants. These monies will not count in Finals or Year-End awards. If there are no qualifying rides, monies will go to the MRCA Finals Committee.
9. All Finals pay-out cheques will be mailed from the MRCA office as soon as possible.
10. The Average is calculated by points totaled on times or scores of the three rounds. Points for the Average are 80, 60, 40, and 20. Average points will include all three rounds to determine Finals Champion.
